UX Design Presentation

This is the cover page of the presentation.

This presentation was prepared for UX Design class to discuss a design topic of interest. I chose the topic of strategic writing because of the powerful impact content, tone, and voice have on a person’s experience with a product, whatever that product may be (e.g., a website, newsletter, annual report, proposal, or app).

Strategic writing engages and connects people to a product or message through the use of a unique, consistent user-centered voice that matches the branded identity of the business to the values, needs, and goals of the people using the product or those getting acquainted with it for the first time. When people interact with a product, they interact with its content—the titles, logos, buttons, captions, error messages, menus, and more.

A voice represents and tells the story of the organization, revealing its personality. This personality, if likeable, builds an audience that trusts the product and the business, breeds loyalty, and reinforces the magic of a positive experience.

UX Mobile App Prototypes

In UX design class, I was required to design an interactive digital prototype using Figma, an interface design software. I chose to develop a simple donation app for people interested in donating personal items to local nonprofits that offer a pickup service. This assignment was my first experience with app design.

Development of the prototype was an iterative process which progressed from initial sketches to wireframes to low-fidelity prototypes to high-fidelity prototypes. The class participated in think-aloud usability tests and walkthroughs to validate each other’s prototypes and provide helpful feedback about the effectiveness of the chosen design features.

My prototype includes three scenarios or ways to interact with the app:

Scenario 1: schedule a donation pickup from a selected local nonprofit

Scenario 2: request a donation report

Scenario 3: change the date of the donation pickup

The amateur YouTube video demos are about a minute long and open in a new tab. I also share an image of the Figma flow connections that drive the functionality of the app.

Texas Tech University’s 2022‒2023 Catalog Cover

The catalog cover shows pictures of students engaged in different school activities and two pictures of campus. The background colors are red and black.

I designed the front and back covers of TTU’s 2022‒2023 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog during my internship with the University’s Office of Official Publications during the spring semester of 2022. I used InDesign for this project.

The design had to comply with TTU’s visual identity guidelines established by the Office of Communications & Marketing. The front and back catalog covers were accepted for publication.

Typography Presentation

I prepared this presentation for Document Design class on the topic of typography. The purpose of the assignment was to facilitate an interactive class discussion based on the assigned topic.
